About Us
A Fiduciary Handles What No One Has Time For.

At GreenStar, our goal is to help you reach your goals. We do this by transforming your goals into actionable strategy that is simple, proactive, and accountable. Often people come to us with financial goals, but there are always underlying personal goals behind it. You may need investment management or estate planning, but ultimately your goal may be to grow in your sense of freedom to pursue your passions and deepen your relationships.

Financial worry is exhausting. One of the highest values we can bring you is to help liberate this burden, so that you can find the freedom to pour yourself into the more important things of life. Financial worry can occupy so much mental real estate. Life goes fast. It is important to free up these burdens so that you can focus on the things that really matter: family, relationships, passions, travel, spiritual growth, and accomplishing bucket list items. This is our goal for you.

We have an enlightened philosophy around financial independence that is integrated around wealth management, risk management, tax management, debt management, and estate planning. All pieces of the puzzle. Our view is that if your financial plan is not fully integrated, it’s flawed.

The mission of GreenStar Advisors is to deliver truly comprehensive financial advice that is simple, proactive, and accountable. This is what we believe:

  • We believe in providing strong leadership to you so that our best advice is a clear path into your future.
  • We believe in the Fiduciary Standard and that people should only work with advisors bound to act in your best interest.
  • We believe in fully liquid investments. This means that in most cases, clients could go 100% to cash at a moment’s notice without paying any costs, trading fees, surrender penalties, or early redemption fees.
  • We believe our service to you must be responsive, immediate, thorough, and exceed your expectations.
  • We believe in educating you with our best ideas, knowledge, and thoughts because education is empowerment.
  • We believe that one of our core talents is anti-procrastination and holding clients accountable to take actionable steps toward their goals.
  • We believe that our core duty to you is to advise you toward maximizing long-term wealth while preserving present day needs, and giving you an excellent experience along the way.

However you may choose to measure us, we measure ourselves through our success in minimizing your financial worry. We see that the core worry that many people have is running out of money. Our job is to not only minimize this possibility, but to help you emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually feel financial freedom so that you may enjoy a richer life.

Chad has more than 15 years experience in the industry. His background is with multi-national banks and brokerage firms before he founded GreenStar Advisors in 2010. He has been termed an affable eccentric. When he isn’t working, you may find him doing projects at his family’s “Little Farm” in Centennial where they have horses, goats, dogs, cats, fish, chickens, and bees along with his wife Makendra and four children (three still at home). Or you may find him traveling to exotic locations (Cuba and Iceland this past year), climbing Colorado’s 14ers (43 out of 58 climbed), skiing, backpacking, running, weight lifting, or playing guitar.

His multi-award-winning book Wealth by Virtue is available on Amazon. More information about it can be found at wealthbyvirtue.com

Favorite food: I like savory foods such Indian, Middle Eastern, Thai, or anything spicy (hot wings) or covered in BBQ sauce. Of course you can’t go wrong with a good ol’ fashioned cheeseburger or pizza.

Best piece of financial advice Chad has received: “If your outgo exceeds your income, then your upkeep will be your downfall.” His dad always said this to him growing up, along with, “We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”

If Chad could meet anyone, past or present, it would be: My great grandfather Harold John “Kitty” Gordon who was “Pocky” to his grandkids.

Hidden talent: Playing guitar (and singing … if no one else will)

Place he’d most like to visit: Croatia, Thailand, and the moon.

Favorite holiday: When I was a kid, my favorite holiday was Christmas. When I became a parent, my favorite holiday became Day Light Savings.

Makendra has spent her career in public schools and as the deputy director of a non-profit protecting wild horses. As a middle school teacher, her highest aspiration for students is more than just the sharing of knowledge, but to show students how to help themselves through knowledge. She loves bringing people together and creating community through shared passions and interests. Along with Chad, Makendra can be found on their “Little Farm” along with their children, horses, goats, chickens and ever-expanding gardens.

Passions: Horses, running, mountain biking, gardening/urban farming, skiing, cooking, art, and backpacking

Best Financial Advice: Maybe what I tell the kids: Is this a need or a want? Also, better to spend on shared experiences than objects and live life to the fullest while saving for the hard times.

Favorite food: Anything from the garden! Also ice cream, sushi, homemade Indian food.

Favorite quote: “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” Anaïs Nin

Hidden talent: Creating art from wire

Place she’d most like to visit: Croatia, Patagoniae

What motivates Makendra: Helping others, being creative

Favorite holidays: Summer trips with my family

Something on her bucket list: Learning horse massage/body work
